The NMDPRA has introduced a compulsory programme referred to as the Minimum Industry Safety Training for Downstream Operations (MISTDO) initiated to safeguard operations in the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil & gas industry.

The MISTDO programme covers fuel dumps, depots, petrol stations, product pipelines, liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) plants and petroleum/gas trucks & conveyors.

MISTDO is a timely solution to the upsurge of operational accidents and mishaps in the downstream sector of the oil & gas industry which resulted in several casualties and fatalities in the past years.

The programme's objectives among others includes to enforce and standardise basic training for downstream workers (managers & other personnel).
